Adamson began, appropriately enough, in Colin Moors' home back in 1983. He decided, after years as a local Building Control Officer, that there was a distinct need in the market for a company offering a superior level of customer service, care and quality, not least a company which would handle all the essential paperwork and planning consent, the building regulations and overall site management. Having witnessed first hand the kind of problems that beset many badly managed building projects, he knew that good building needed careful co-ordination and personal attention to detail. And so Adamson was formed with quality, care and service as the cornerstone.

This commitment has seen Adamson become the most successful business of its kind in the North West of England with its own dedicated workforce. Many of the team have stayed since the very beginning, notching up invaluable experience and practical knowledge over their many years of loyalty and dedication.

In 1990, the company's progress and expansion was such that Adamson needed bigger premises and so the team designed and built its own much larger head office on the Globe Lane Industrial Park in Dukinfield. In an ideal location for motorway access and for customers' convenience, the premises handled the entire construction operation but, yet again, further advancement was needed to meet the ever-growing demand.

Just one year later, Adamson opened an additional showroom to accommodate its new service, Adamson Interiors. This division offers the best in luxury fitted kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, en suites and home offices. This move extends Adamson beyond its original construction services into the complete and highly professional home improvements sphere, offering prestigious make-overs, inside and out.

Today, Adamson prides itself on designing a new room layout first and then the custom extension is built around the interior plans, which is the only truly logical way to create dream rooms without compromise. The service is as individual as each project it handles, offering total flexibility to manage everything from major structural work to a simple facelift perhaps with a new porch, door, windows and fascias.

Considering all this success, Adamson is not too big to offer the personal touch. At heart, this is still a family owned and run business. It is the pride of Colin Moors and his team of equally enthusiastic people who put their effort behind every project - large or small - to see it through to successful completion and a happy hand-over!

In 2006, Adamson was proud and delighted to have three family members helping to run the ship. Colin's daughter, Rachel Astley, joined the firm as Colin's second in command. Rachel's husband, Chris was the then Contracts Manager for Adamson Construction while Colin's son-in-law, Mark had been General Manager for Interiors for nearly ten years. Then came Colin's first grandchild, Grace, born to Rachel and Chris. Within a few short months, Grace was often to be seen playing most earnestly with her favourite building bricks in Grandad's office! Some are just born to greatness!

Grace's arrival also heralded another exciting 'new baby' for Adamson – the brand new Interiors Centre at Adamson House with a spectacular new Kitchen Showroom, entirely re-fitted with the very latest ideas and inspirations. Not content with magnificent room sets, each was dressed and styled with props and artwork Rachel commissioned specially to give the whole look an exceptional feeling of polish and panache. In late 2006, she took the same care creating the brand new Bedroom Showroom with everything from exquisite touches of jewellery and lingerie to help the displays come to life. Not here the standard runs of wardrobes, rather a range of aspirational delights to tempt the choosiest!

In June, Mark O'Brien married Rachel's sister, Sara, in a fairytale celebration while on December 27th, Rachel and Chris welcomed to the family their very special Christmas baby – son Alex.

By now, surrounded by family who knew the business, Colin decided to start handing responsibility for Adamson's progress into the capable hands of the next generation, all of whom have been polishing their considerable management skills under his watchful eye. With a view to easing himself into early retirement, Colin now felt completely confident to reward his family's loyalty to Adamson with well-earned Directorships in the business.

Today's team is Colin Moors (Managing Director), Rachel Astley, (Business Development Director), Chris Astley, (Technical Director for Construction) and Mark O'Brien (Technical Director for Interiors). And so the dynasty continues, a family company providing a much trusted service to families.
