With half term fast approaching, we’ve put together a list of events happening in and around Manchester and Cheshire so you and the kids can make the most of their time off!
Jodrell Bank Half Term Events
As part of the Manchester Science Festival, Jodrell Bank are putting on a variety of half term events from family stargazing nights to live science shows. The events are running between 21st October and 5th November and promise to offer a fascinating glimpse into the mysteries of space and the universe!

The Enchantment of Chester Zoo
Now in its second year, The Enchantment of Chester Zoo is full of Halloween adventure, acrobatics, music and discovery. Kids can learn about their favourite animals while gathering clues to help save the zoo!

Chatsworth House – Half Term Halloween Hoot
Head to Chatsworth House in Bakewell for Halloween fun and frights! From creepy crafts to face painting and Halloween trails to storytelling, there’s sure to be spooky fun for everyone.
Alton Towers Scarefest
Another Halloween event for you at Alton Towers. Between 20th and 31st October Alton Towers will remain open until 9pm to reveal a world of frights, spooks and thrills for every age! Those with younger children can enjoy the family friendly Halloween Spooktacular while those who want to experience spine tingling terror can enjoy creepy mazes and rides in the dark!

Half Term Family Fun at Salford Quays
Take a trip to Salford Quays this half term to enjoy a range of family friendly activities both kids and parents will enjoy!
Be part of the Family Arts Festival at the Lowry, offering fantastic theatre shows and much more or visit Ordshall Hall to embark on the Magic Door Trail scavenger hunt and visit the Halloween grotto.
Feeling peckish? Then head to the Lowry Outlet’s Makers Market to enjoy a selection of artisan food and drink whilst listening to live music. There’s also a range of activities for children! At the end of it all relax on a river cruise and enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful waterfront location.

Dinosaurs in the Wild at Event City
Travel back in time 67 million years and come to face to face with awesome dinosaurs. A blend of live-action theatre, theme park fun and the latest palaeontological knowledge will immerse you in the past amongst the most fantastic creatures to ever walk the Earth. A truly unique and unforgettable experience that will be enjoyed by the whole family.

A Hidden Halloween at Tatton Park
With a reputation as one of the most haunted sites in England, it’s no wonder Tatton Park offers frightfully good Halloween half term activities! The brave can explore the haunted Old Hall or follow the trail to the Mystery Maze. With fun and frights around every corner, who knows what you might discover.

A Hidden Halloween at Tatton Park
Kids go half price this October half term at Knowsley Safari Park! Get up close with your favourite animals and enjoy Halloween treats along the way with pumpkin carving, a mini beast hunt and a spooky birds of prey display.

Spooktastic Family Activities in Altrincham
Altrincham Unlimited has teamed up with events specialists Our Kids Social and Art with a Heart to put on a jam packed week of half term activities in Altrincham.
Follow a spooky trail to help put Mr Bones back together in time for Halloween or drop into Art with a Heart for a creepy crafts session. There’s also a spooky silent disco with fancy dress and Halloween games at Altrincham Conservative Club.
Events are running between October 24th and 28th with the silent disco on the 27th. Find out more here
Half Term Halloween Spookfest at Cockfields Farm
Head down to Cockfields Farm in Ashton-under-Lyne over half term for Halloween fun alongside their normal schedule of animal activities, including pumpkin picking and carving, spooky stories and Halloween themed crafts and goody bags!
Spookfest is running between 23rd October and 5th November and if you book online here you can save 10%.
